Roger Pratchett has enjoyed a successful career across a range of disciplines within the agri-input sector: Technical product development, Multiple Brand marketing, UK and International Market research, Business development and Market analysis. A career of invaluable experience gained uniquely from both the client and agency businesses, which has provided a unique perspective on the sector. He founded Independent Business Resource Ltd in 2003 and now leads a team of significantly experienced individuals to focus on satisfying customer needs and developing innovative applications to optimise market data,

David Dower - Director Market Research

David Dower

David has 20 years of Market Research experience across a range of business sectors which has given him the skills to tackle the most demanding of projects. David has been actively working with Roger in the agricultural sector for the past 15 years. He leads the bespoke market research activities of Independent Business Resource and develops syndicated proposals to offer added value research options to clients.

Marsha Beckingham - Project Manager

Marsha, a graduate from Hull University, is an experienced market researcher with thirteen years experience in both qualitative and quantitative techniques. She started her career at Produces Studies (latterly Promar International) in 1997.  She initially worked in their consumer division, primarily involved in FMCG and Agri-food sectors.  After the acquisition of the Promar International research divisions in 2003, Marsha joined Precision Prospecting, working for them until early 2011.  During this time she gained considerable experience in conducting a wide range projects throughout the food chain, from evaluating new fungicides with Agronomists to assessing new food products with consumers. 

Marsha is trained in the full range of research techniques, both quantitative and qualitative, completing her Market Research Society Foundation and Certificate in 1998

Cedric Porter - Supply Chain Strategist

Cedric Porter

Cedric brings a unique strategic view to IBR-Ltd, as a Director of the Oxford Farming Conference, LEAF policy committee member and DEFRA food policy stakeholder, not to mention former Editor of Farm Business, he keeps his finger on the pulse of the industry and is uniquely qualified to advise clients on market trends and guidance in the development of supply chain strategies across the food chain.

Julian Brown - Contract Field Trials Lead & Senior Analyst

Julian Brown

Julian has been a development agronomist within both farming co-operatives and leading multi-national R&D manufacturers. He will manage the contract trials activites of IBR-ltd and his agronomic insight is invaluable when interpreting results from development trials, bespoke research and consulting. Clients of IBR-Ltd who subscribe to the Kleffmann Agricultural Marketing Information (AMIS) databases will also benefit from these analytical skills with added value support in the use and interpretation of data.

Paul Selby - Commercial Business Development

Paul Selby

27 years in Sales, Marketing and Product Management within national agri-distribution, allows Paul to provide IBR and its clients with trading insight from within the Distribution channel. A vast amount of experience in agri-inputs (seed, fertiliser, agchem) trading together with business development will ensure IBR has the skills to service new market segments.

Sue Mortis

Sue has worked within the agricultural research and consulting world for many years.
Her multilingual skills, report writing experience, combined with excellent IT skills allows her to provide invaluable support to the IBR Team and their clients.

  • Commodity selling prices and the weather are top concerns for European farmers

    An in-depth survey of 3,000 European farmers in six countries has indicated that commodity selling pricing is the most important concern for farmers in three European countries, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, with it being the second most important concern of farmers in Great Britain and France. The next most frequent concern was, unsurprisingly, the weather, which was selected by farmers in four countries surveyed, Germany, Great Britain, Poland and the Czech Republic.

    An in-depth annual survey of European farmers has indicated much greater interest and optimism for crops grown for renewable energy among German farmers, compared to their counterparts in the Great Britain
